The first day in Sao Paulo we visited the the leading exchange in Latin America, the Brasilian Stock Exchange,BM&F BOVESPA. I have never been to the New York Stock Exchange so it was my first time in such a setting.
I was unfamiliar with the majority of the companies that were there except for Petrobas.
We were shown as 3D presentation about BOVESPA in which it emphasized their importance to the future of Brasil as an economic superpower.
There were some technical terms in Portugues that I learned meanwhile I was there.
Empresacionistas-Shareholders
Acao de Empresa-Shares
BOVESPA also promoted its social programs such as Clube de Atleticaos which helps the development of young athletes helping them financially.
Then we were able to talk to one of the main executives from Bm&F Bovespa who spoke about thwir strategies to convince Chinese investors to invest in Brazilian Stock market. He gave a lot of great insight on how to encourage Chinese investors to do business in Brazil.
Overall, the visit to BOVESPA was enlightening and refreshing. It reminded me why I came on the trip on the first place and it reinforced my interest in global management.
